The torchlight procession for peace and tolerance will be held again in the city of Eindhoven this Christmas Eve, December 24. You can get your coins and torches from 18.00 hrs (6.00 PM) at the Wilhelminaplein and at 18.15 hrs (6.15 PM) .
At 19.00 (7.00 PM) hrs the first torch will be lit, which will mark the start of the procession. Many other activities will take place along the route, and all are welcome to join in.

Please do not wear synthetic clothing during the procession!

The torchlight procession is a long-established part of the Christmas season for many people in and around Eindhoven. Through this activity the city shows that people are willing to commit themselves to a society in which tolerance and respect are key issues. Living together requires not only tolerance, but also an attitude of ‘give and take’. That applies to all of us, regardless of color, race or religion.

Not only thousands of torches will be lit from 19.00 hrs (7.00 PM) onwards, residents along the route will also express their solidarity by placing candles in their windows. Participants can also enjoy a number of music and poetry contributions.  As usual the square will be filled with stalls offering coffee, hot chocolate, soup and pancakes.

Before the procession, at 18.00 hrs (6.00 PM), a service will be held at the Catharina church in Eindhoven, with the emphasis on living together peacefully with the Muslim community in the Netherlands. The service will be led by the imam of the Fatih Mosque, together with a priest and a vicar. People who visit this service can also join the procession.

After the procession, at 20.00 hrs (8.00 PM), there will be an opportunity to visit the Fatih mosque.

At the student church at the Kanaalstraat 6 there will be a special oecumenical Christmas service for children at 18.00 hrs (6.00 PM) and an oecumenical Christmas eve service at 22.00 hrs (10.00 PM).

The organization of the Torchlight procession would not be possible without the help of: Stichting Vredesburo, World Peace Flame, Catharina kerk, Fatih Moskee, Tint/ESK, Café Wilhelmina, TPN-E, COC, OVAA, Scouting Johannes Vianney, the Municipality of Eindhoven, Eindhoven365, Soors Muziek, Café Altstadt and many volunteers.
